Go full S.T.E.A.M. ahead with 4-H this summer

Pick up S.T.E.A.M. this summer with a three-day youth camp focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math for intermediate and middle school students.

"This hands-on camp builds knowledge and skills, all while having fun," said Donna Nuger, 4-H Youth Development Educator with University of Illinois Extension. "We'll explore principles of science, engineering, design, agriculture, and nutrition through interactive lessons on food science, robotics, techno-art, and environmental science."

Hosted by 4-H, this three-day camp is designed for students entering fourth to eighth grades in the 2017-18 school year.

It will meet 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, July 31 to Aug. 2, at the U of I Extension office in Kane County, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

"Summer can make it hard for youth to retain skills, and some youth are unable to get to activities," Nuger said. "With this 4-H S.T.E.A.M. Camp, youth can get three full days of learning and excitement, which can help them maintain academic skills and make positive memories."

The cost is $75 per youth for the three days, and lunch and snack are included. Youth do not need to be 4-H members.

Registration is required by Saturday, July 15; space is limited.
