Umoja Games come to Schaumburg July 1-3

Meet Chicago Northwest visitors bureau is welcoming the Umoja Games' more than 500 soccer players to Olympic Park in Schaumburg for a three-day tournament from Saturday to Monday, July 1 to 3.

Umoja Outreach Foundation is a Muslim organization that began as an annual soccer tournament in 2012, but has grown into a foundation that touches on the physical, social and spiritual lives of the participants and community.

The tournament has previously been in New York; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Orlando; and Toronto.

Another of the foundation's branches, Umojacare, is making its tournament debut, introducing an on-site community service initiative with the Hunger Van. Spectators and participants will have the opportunity to pack nutritious lunches which will be distributed in impoverished areas.
