Vernon Hills might raise age for tobacco use
Vernon Hills officials on Tuesday will consider options regarding raising the legal age to buy or use tobacco products in the village from 18 to 21. A state proposal to raise the age did not advance and several communities, most recently Lincolnshire, opted to enact a local ordinance. The topic will be discussed at the informal committee of the whole session, which follows the regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive. A presentation by the Lake County Health Department is planned.
