Happy to be leaving Illinois

The article that was published last week was very timely since we are in the midst of moving to Arizona. Here are some of the reasons why (at least from our perspective):

1. The state is in turmoil between ever increasing taxes, the continuing budget battle in Springfield that are getting us nowhere and it looks like they will never change unless Madigan and company give up the fight, which isn't about to happen, at least in our lifetime.

2. Roads full of potholes

3. Four-way stop signs which I still can't figure out why they even exist. In New Jersey, where I am originally from, doesn't have any, only the two-stop version.

4. Expressways where many feel that the speed limit is where one has to keep 10-plus miles over what is posted.

5. Traffic, where some daily commutes on the expressways downtown can take one or two hours during rush hour. Makes no sense, especially where it should "normally" take 20-30 minutes.

6. Finally, but certainly not least, is the weather.

So, goodbye, Illinois, and we wish those of you who stay here good luck!
