Lisle celebrates park district's 50th anniversary

Lisle Park District will celebrate its 50th anniversary Saturday, June 3, with a free Big Fun celebration from 4 to 9 p.m. at Community Park, 1825 Short St.

The district had its first organized meeting on March 20, 1967. Big Fun is designed to show the district's gratitude and appreciation for the community support it has received over the past five decades.

The celebration will feature family bingo from 4 to 5 p.m. and a variety of events from 4 to 8 p.m., including:

• Touch-a-Truck with the Lisle Park District fleet;

• Supersized games (weather permitting);

• Human foosball;

• Connect 4;

• Scrabble;

• Kerplunk;

• Giant Sink-It;

• Adult and kids Jenga; and

• Guess Who.

Beverage tents selling beer, wine, pop and water will operate from 4 to 9 p.m. along with several food trucks.

Children's entertainer Dave Rudolph will present his Beach Party from 5 to 6 p.m., and the band Shout Out will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Free parking is available at the Lisle Recreation Center, Lisle Community Center, Community Park, and Dana Victor parking lots.
