License gun dealers to increase safety
The Illinois House has the opportunity to make our state a little safer by passing the Gun Dealer Licensing Act. This bill will encourage better business practices for gun dealers by training them on background checks, allowing for inspection by law enforcement and requiring video security at stores.
None of these safeguards impedes the Second Amendment in any way, and would provide a measure of safety for the people of Illinois.
Gun dealer licensing is a common sense step in keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals, and while it won't curb all gun violence, it's a responsible step in keeping our families safe. I urge our state legislators to vote yes on this SB 1657.
