Mt. Prospect McDonald's Hosts Annual McTeacher's Night for River Trails Middle School
River Trails Middle School of District 26 in Mt. Prospect held their second annual McTeacher's Night at the Mt. Prospect McDonald's on Rand Road on Thursday, May 25. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.
On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for River Trails Middle School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.
Twenty-five teachers worked from the middle school, including Principal Keir Rogers. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.
River Trails teachers Natalia Broz, Todd Smith and Lea Steigerwald had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.
Gus from the Windy City Bulls joined the fun at the McTeacher's Night by dancing with the students and teachers.
A special thank you goes to River Trails Middle School principal, Keir Rogers, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. River Trials teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. Mr. Rogers stated that the school plans to use the money raised for Recreation Night activities.
The middle school raised $725.00 at the event thanks to all the singing the teachers did for tips. The students donated money to have the teachers sing the theme song over and over!
