AHFD MDA Fill the Boot Drive

The Arlington Heights Fire Fighters and the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be hosting the AHFD MDA Fill the Boot Drive on May 19. The firefighters will be out collecting that day in the major intersections on Arlington Heights Rd with all proceeds going to MDA which provides medical services and summer camps to local children living with Muscular Dystrophy at no cost to their families.

The collection times are 6:30-10:30 a.m. and 2-6 p.m. At their major collection location of the Vail Street Market Jewel (122 North Vail Ave.) in downtown Arlington Heights, firefighters and MDA will have WGN Morning News Around Town with Ana filming live segments from 7:45-9:45 a.m. along with the WCIU morning show "You & Me" filming segments at 6:40 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. These segments will have TV personalities interacting with the fire department and MDA Ambassadors like local Arlington Heights resident 6 year-old Ben Noble and MDA Good Will Ambassador for the State of Illinois 14 year-old Lizzie Chamberlain from Jacksonville, Illinois. Radio stations will be on hand with fun giveaways as well. For all the little ones, the company Firezone will be on hand with a children's firefighter obstacle course and a firefighter adventure trailer as well. The Arlington Heights Fire Department will have their Tower Ladder truck on display.

That same night, the firefighters will be hosting the AHFD MDA Benefit at Ditka's Trackside from 7 p.m.-midnight. They will have live music with the country band Dixie Crush, along with live and silent auctions, several raffles and drinks and appetizers provided by sponsors. This event is open to the public.
