Timothy Christian's stellar achievement
I would like to acknowledge and applaud the impressive accomplishments of the Timothy Christian High School of Elmhurst. Their scholastic bowl team, competing with 250 other Division 1 high schools, prevailed to become the 2017 state champions.
This qualified the team to compete in the small school national championship tournament last weekend at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare.
After a grueling two days of competition involving 11 matches with schools from many different states, Timothy Christian emerged in sixth place. The team, under the direction of physics teacher, Carlton Rink, had a spectacular scholastic season.
Realizing that this scholastic activity receives little or no recognition even though it takes enormous preparation, discipline, time and brains, these young people can certainly be proud of a unique and lifelong memorable achievement.
