Naperville man faces weapons charges
A Naperville man is being held on $75,000 bail accused of illegally having a gun.
Christopher Brooks, 24, of the 500 block of Bailey Road, is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Naperville police said they found the unloaded .22 caliber Ruger semi-automatic pistol, with the serial number destroyed, during an investigation of a suspicious vehicle around 7:30 p.m. March 31 on the 1500 block of Naperville Wheaton Road. But the department's special operations group arrested Brooks Wednesday on the $75,000 arrest warrant.
In April 2014, Brooks was sentenced to three years in prison for an identity theft charge.
