Family kite fly April 29 in Vernon Hills

A Family Kite Fly will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 29, at the Century Park Island Shelter, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

The free family event supports the Illinois Association of Park Districts' "Flying 4 Kids" program, which promotes the sale of license plates that feature a kite design. Proceeds support after-school programming.

Registration is not needed. Bring your own kite or buy one at the event for $6. Park at the Century Park Boat Dock Shelter lot and walk to the island picnic shelter.
