The quagmire of unintended consequences

Once again we may be stumbling into another potential war with adversaries who are no threat to the U.S. In Vietnam, we had the Bay of Tonkin attack which actually never happened. In Iraq, we went after the weapons of mass destruction, which Saddam never had. And now we are attacking Syria because a depraved monster has used poison gas to destroy babies.

Never mind our methodical use of chemicals to kill babies every Saturday morning in abortion clinics under the guise of "choice'," but I digress.

Where is the direct threat to the security of the U.S. by Assad's actions? What is Russia's response if a few of their soldiers become collateral damage? What is our moral imperative when we pick and choose who we will "save" and in what country? Should we attack the tribes conducting civil war in Uganda where millions of innocents will soon be dead from starvation if no country intercepts to stop the bloodshed? And which of our neighbors" sons are we willing to send into battle if a ground war should be the unintended result? Our recent wars have been seductive, like quicksand, slowly pulling us in. How much more blood and treasure are we as a nation willing to expend while quite possibly creating another group of hatemongers who seek the death of America? Just a few questions as we yet again flirt with an unknown quagmire of unintended consequences.
