Man sentenced for sexually assaulting girls in Cary
A 48-year-old man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for sexually assaulting young girls in Cary, McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally announced Friday.
An investigation by the Cary Police Department in 2013 found that Robert Maron sexually assaulted two girls younger than 10 in the 1990s. After Maron was charged in 2013, a third woman contacted police and reported that she was also sexually assaulted by Maron as a young child in the 1990s.
"We are pleased with the sentence and the assurance that this predator will no longer pose a risk to children in our community," Kenneally said.
Maron recently pleaded guilty in Cook County to sexually assaulting a fourth victim and was sentenced to six years in prison. Maron will serve his sentences consecutively.
