How can we allow millions uninsured?
I support the ACA. I don't understand how it is acceptable to allow millions of people to go without insurance.
This current bill that is being proposed will cut back on the expansion of Medicaid, which means rescinding insurance for those who desperately need it, the poor, pregnant women, patients in nursing facilities and those who are disabled. According to Standard & Poor's, 10 million citizens (the people who vote) will lose coverage. This bill gives tax credits (not helpful, by the way) instead of assistance to those with lower incomes. Now it is based upon age? This is a decision that certainly appears to be discriminatory. Based on age not income? Suspicious.
According to Paul Ryan, this current bill will not insure as many as before. Which ultimately means this bill will wind up being quite costly, financially and personally to millions who depend upon health insurance.
American Medical Association CEO James Madara said: "While we agree that there are problems with the ACA that must be addressed, we cannot support the AHCA as drafted because of the expected decline in health insurance coverage and the potential harm it would cause to vulnerable patient populations."
Many other organizations dedicated to health care have had concerns as well.
