Boys volleyball: Tsourmas, Buffalo Grove handle Prospect

Buffalo Grove d. Prospect: Chris Tsourmas produced 8 kills and went 13-for-14 serving to help the Bison past Prospect 25-13, 25-14.

Other key contributions for BG came from Ian Van Wazer (11-11 serving, 3 kills, 3 blocks) and Ryan Horvath (3 kills, 5 blocks).

Barrington d. Hoffman Estates: Jacob Werner and Michael O'Toole each had 4 kills to lead Barrington 25-19, 26-24 in the MSL West match.

Dillon Davey added 3 and Petar Lumovic 2 while Evan Carroll handed 16 assists. Stephen Wanca led the Brncos with 6 digs and Connor Shoults had 3. Cameron Sorce and O'Toole each had a pair of aces.

Leading the attack for Palatine was Johnny O'Shea (14-for-17 hitting, 7 kills); Camden Hill and Matt Cooper had 5 kills apiece.

Wheeling d. Elk Grove: The visiting Wildcats got off to a winning start in MSL East play with a 25-18, 25-22 decision.

Michael Lechowicz served up 4 aces and shared team-best attack stats with Michael Best (6 kills). Jared Moser had 8 digs and Matt Schiferl had 7 for Wheeling (4-3, 1-0), which got strong setting efforts from Kyle Bagarella (30-33, 13 assists) and Sono Tsogtbaatar (15-15, 5 assists).

Kevin Braceros (9 kills) and Kevin Doyle (4) led Elk Grove's attack, while Ed Gonzales generated 20 assists and Luke Augustaitis served up a pair of aces. Braceros also had 2 blocks and a team-best 7 digs.

Schaumburg d. Conant: The Saxons got a big hitting effort from Dan Kaszuba (17 kills) in earning a 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 victory over the Cougars.

Ryan Regier contributed 7 kills, Ever Ortega had 17 assists and Grant Behrens came up with 14 digs for the Saxons (2-4, 1-0 MSL West).
