Baseball: Larkin takes down West Chicago

Jackson Reuter's double drove in Michael Rodriguez with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday as Larkin's baseball team defeated West Chicago 5-4 in an Upstate Eight Conference game.

Reuter (3 RBI) and Rodriguez (RBI) each had 2 hits in the game for the Royals (4-2, 1-0) and Reuter added another double earlier in the game, Max Anderson also had an RBI.

Jon Unger was the winning pitcher in relief for Larkin.

St. Charles East 3, Plainfield South 2: A Pat Griffin single scored John Carroll with the winning run in the top of the 10th inning as the Saints came away with this nonconference win. Thomas Adams had a double and an RBI for SCE (4-2) while starting pitcher Niko Klebosits also drove in a run. Drew Conn picked up the pitching win in relief.

South Elgin 5, Huntley 3: Kevin Barry had 4 hits including 2 doubles and an RBI as South Elgin (2-2) won in nonconference play. Cameron Kovanda added 2 RBI for the Storm. Nate Gomez, who had an RBI, was the winning pitcher going 5 innings and allowing just 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Matt Rodriguez had 2 RBI for Huntley (5-2). Kyle Morgan suffered the loss.

Hampshire 7, Hoffman Estates 2: Carter Lawler had 3 hits and an RBI and Matthew Wians added 2 hits with a double to lead Hampshire to a nonconference win. Noah Schrader had an RBI for the Whip-Purs (4-2-1) while Kevin Michaelsen added a double and an RBI. Tyler Maglaya also had an RBI. Alex Mahaz was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing 3 hits with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Harvest Christian 7, Peru-St. Bede 4: Drew Lewis had 3 hits with a triple and 4 RBI and winning pitcher Joey Pepper had a double and an RBI for the Lions in this nonconference win. Dominic Olech and Dylan Lockwood also had RBI for Harvest.

Harvest Christian 5, Somonauk 3: Brock Wilken drove in 2 runs while Joey Pepper, Grant Young and Dayne Frederick each had doubles to lead the Lions (8-1) to the win. Zach Pawelek went 6⅔ innings, allowing no earned runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks to earn the win.

Kaneland 10, Belleville East 5: Joey Brandonisio had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Kaneland scored 9 runs in the final two innings to win this nonconference game in 10 innings. Logan Piercy added a double and an RBI for the Knights (3-2) while winning pitcher Jack Marshall (RBI), Preston Havis (RBI) and Luke Gomes (2 RBI) also contributed.

ACC 10, Hixson (TN) 7: Playing in Chattanooga, Tenn., the Chargers got a 3-hit, 3-RBI game from Michael Bieterman that included a triple and a home run as they remained undefeated with this win. Johnny Belskis added 2 hits with a double and an RBI while Hunter Darnell and Jake Gallagher also drove in runs. Thomas Canning picked up the win on the mound.

ACC 2, Next Level Navy 2: The Chargers and Next Level of Alabama played to a draw in Chattanooga. Patrick Flanagan drive in a run for Aurora Central. Michael Bieterman and Kyle Czerak shared the pitching duties for ACC.

Next Level White 13, ACC 5: The Chargers lost their first game of the season in this setback in Chattanooga to Next Level of Alabama. Johnny Belskis and Alex Rakas each had 2 hits for ACC and Hunter Darnell added a double.

Pleasant Plains 10, Aurora Christian 2: At the Lisle tournament, Ethan Stoneberg and Robert Lewis each had a double for Aurora Christian. Tanner Dissell and Clark Turek drove in runs for the Chargers.

Notre Dame 1, Jacobs 0: Matt Camp had 2 hits and Mike Addante added a double for Jacobs in this nonconference loss. Brad Demkovich suffered the loss on the mound for the Golden Eagles (6-1). He allowed just 4 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Schaumburg 1, West Aurora 0: Josh Adam had a double for West Aurora (1-6) in this nonconference loss. JJ Rivera went 6 innings for the Blackhawks and allowed just 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Marmion 7, Oswego 3: Winning pitcher Ryan Fletcher had 2 RBI for the Cadets (3-2) in this nonconference win. Fletcher went 4 innings and allowed no runs on 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
