Lake County deputy honored

Lake County Sheriff's Marine Unit Deputy Jonathan Levin this week was named 2016 Deputy of the Year by the Illinois Sheriff's Association. Levin was in his personal vehicle driving home from his shift last July 16 when he came upon a serious crash involving a pickup truck and three motorcycles on State Park Road in Fox Lake. He positioned his vehicle to block traffic, then pulled two motorcyclists from beneath the pickup, which was on fire. He administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Levin was previously honored by Fox Lake officials for his lifesaving actions.
