Palatine pastor: District 211 issue comes down to truth

The Daily Herald endorsement of the District 211 incumbent candidates because of their support for the decision to place male and female students together in locker rooms and restrooms was not surprising - yet at the same time it is shocking.

Decades ago we began rejecting the idea of objective morality. We have now moved on to rejecting objective reality. I lack the imagination to speculate what might be next.

The idea that a biological male is actually a female or vice versa is a lie - a lie that traps real people into a lifetime battle, not with other people, but ultimately with reality itself. Our schools are not only endorsing this fiction, they are enforcing it - lying and teaching children to lie.

This battle is not primarily about "inclusion" or even privacy. It is ultimately a battle for truth itself.

As a pastor I must continue to speak out. Truth is so important Jesus said that is why He came. When He stood before Pontius Pilate, He said: "For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world ... to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

Pilate's dismissive response, "What is truth!" is mirrored by our school boards and the Daily Herald today.

Jesus also said, "To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them."

I fear the vast majority of this nation now finds itself in the latter category. There are only two sides in the battle for truth. We will either stand on the side of truth with Jesus Christ or we will dismiss it to our own destruction.
