Vernon Hills police to offer self-defense class
Vernon Hills police will once host a women's self-defense from 7 to 9 p.m. April 25 at the police department, 740 Lakeview Parkway. This class is free and is open to Vernon Hills residents age 8 and up (children under age 14 must be accompanied by a parent). Instructor Harriet Johnson is a former police officer and expert in self-defense, with more than 40 years of teaching experience in all aspects of self-defense and use of weapons. Topics include basics of survival and awareness, vulnerable areas of the body, psychology of fear and how to make it work for you, and basics of self-defense. Class size is limited.
