Flurry of car burglaries hits Mount Prospect
Mount Prospect police warned residents of a rash of burglaries to unlocked vehicles in a particular section of the village on Tuesday on the department's Facebook page.
According to the post, the police department responded to 20 reports throughout Tuesday of burglaries to motor vehicles in the neighborhoods between Central Road to the south, Kensington Road to the north, Russel Street to the west and Owen Street to the east.
In the reports, all the burglarized vehicles had been left unlocked by their owners and no forced entry was made into them.
Police took the opportunity to remind residents to always lock your vehicles, even if parked in a garage, and to always remove all valuables whenever left unattended.
