Boys gymnastics: Palatine soars to 154.9 at home
All-arounders Prakash Nigam, Christian Lunsford and Brian Gaytan led the way as Palatine's boys gymnastics team won a Mid-Suburban League triangular meet at home on Wednesday.
Nigam had the top all-around finish (55.50) as Palatine soared to a team score of 154.90. Conant scored 125.00 and Prospect was third at 124.50.
Lunsford's all-around was 51.50, and Gaytan came in at 44.80 - just ahead of Prospect's Jack D'Onofrio (44.70).
Nigam won each event, all with scores of 9.0 or better. His top score of 9.5 came on floor exercise and still rings.
Lunsford finished in the top three of each event. The Pirates also got top-three placements from Jack Benzo on pommel horse (7.7) and A.J. Krambeer on parallel bars (8.30).
D'Onofrio was third on horizontal bar (6.7, tied with Palatine's Trever Hallier) and vault (8.9).
at Schaumburg: Fremd's Eric Barnd and Ryan Roth produced strong finishes as the Vikings won an MSL triangular, scoring 152.3 to best Schaumburg (145.6) and Rolling Meadows (116.3).
Barnd was tops on pommel horse (9.2), high bar (9.1) and had the best all-around score (53.8). Roth won floor exercise (9.3), rings (9.2) and was third in the all-around (51.2).
Schaumburg's Chasen Chau tied with Barnd for the best vault score (9.2). Chau also won parallel bars (9.2) and was second in the all-around (52.3).
