Stakes are high in Dist. 211 race

The upcoming election for board of education candidates in District 211 could not be more clear. On the one hand, you have experienced, caring and dedicated people committed to the well-being of all students in LeFevre, Klimkowicz and Yung. On the other hand, you have a slate founded on intolerance of student differences with connections to a political agenda intent on delivering intolerance and slashing goodness from public education.

There was a similar experiment several years ago in Hinsdale. Ask any of the community members there how that turned out. A top-notch school district was brought to the brink of financial disaster as a result of a board takeover. What happened? The candidates who claimed they were going to save the taxpayers nearly capsized the financial operations and were voted out as the community recognized that quality schools are invaluable to our future and to our overall community.

The problem is that once a board fractures a solid financial condition within a school district, the die is cast and recovery is long-term and extremely difficult. The biggest travesty of all is that students are the ones who lose when an uniformed and inexperienced board takes over the financial reins of a quality school district.

This is a high stakes election in District 211. On April 4th, remember that delivering quality in a school district is a year-round duty, 365 days a year, so vote for candidates No. 3 LeFevre, No. 6 Yung and No. 5 Klimkowicz.
