Park Ridge man killed in crash near Wauconda

A Park Ridge man was killed over the weekend after his car struck a utility pole near Wauconda, authorities said. According to the Lake County sheriff's office, 60-year-old James T. Horan was traveling east on Route 176, just east of Ivanhoe Road in Fremont Township, about 10:10 p.m. Saturday when his car left the roadway and struck the pole. Full story.

Motorcyclist injured in crash into sign near Lily Lake

A motorcyclist was injured last night after crashing into a sign along Route 64 near Lily Lake, Kane County sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said. The motorcycle was traveling west on Route 64 about 5:15 p.m. when it left the road for an unknown reason, he said. Full story.

Traffic

Traffic outside of Chicago is running wide open with few problems to report this morning. There's a crash on Larkin Avenue at McLean Boulevard in Elgin. Road construction on Route 23 has the roadway reduced to one lane at I-90. Bridge replacement work is scheduled to close Nesler Road in Elgin between South Street and Bowes Road until September. Ongoing major reconstruction in Bensenville is scheduled to reduce Irving Park to one lane in each direction between Church and O'Hare South Access Road until this fall. Full story.
