March Madness hits Blackhawks
Before boarding a plane to Montreal for their game Tuesday, Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell and coach Joel Quenneville were asked if they would be filling out NCAA Tournament brackets.
They said yes … although both admitted their sheets may not last very long.
"I used to be a little bit more aware," Quenneville said. "Now I have no clue. Kind of the way I bet horses (laughs)."
Campbell said he's "going to wear purple" and is definitely picking Northwestern to win its first-round game over Vanderbilt on Thursday.
As for the rest of his bracket? He may ask for a little help from Chicago radio and TV personality David Kaplan.
"I'll say, 'Hey, Kap - I'll split the winnings with you if you fill out my bracket for me," Campbell said. "I know he knows his college basketball. I haven't asked him yet, but that's my No. 1 prospect right now."
Campbell's strategy in the past has been to see who the President of the United States is picking, but he won't have that option because President Trump isn't going to fill out a bracket.
"I figure somebody's telling him something, and maybe I mix in a few things," Campbell said.
