Both of my parents still live here. I am married, and we have 3 children, Maria (8), Leo (7), Anthia(4).Occupation: I am the Co-owner of Posh Tots, the Upscale Resale.Education: I attended Mt Prospect Schools while growing up, and I graduated from Prospect High School in 1995.I attended William Rainey Harper College, where I received an Associate Degree in Arts. Immediately following, I attended Northeastern Illinois University, where I received aBachelors degree in arts, with a major in Sociology, and a minor in Social WorkCivic involvement: Through Posh Tots, we donate thousands of items to local charities twice a year, for children and families in need. The items are given to families in our community, and in the surrounding communities. Also, through the church we attend, we participate in a feed the homeless event, which takes place various at times throughout the year. Lastly, I am an active member of a woman's group through the church I attend, (the largest women's charity organizations within the United States) which gives to those in need through philanthropy.Elected offices held: Candidate did not respond.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I was raised in Mt Prospect, I attended Mount Prospect schools, and am now raising my children in Mt Prospect. Therefore, I will provide an honest, fresh perspective as a member of the village board. Also, because my company, Posh Tots, is based out of Mount Prospect, I will be looking after the interests of the local business owners. Posh tots is heavily involved with local charities, and this can give great insight as to what the people of Mount Prospect will give back as a community. Lastly, having extensive experience in the Human Resources field for numerous years, I will offer a fair and unbiased view on various topics and issues.What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I feel that our property taxes are currently on target. Mount Prospect is a rapidly growing community, our home values have increased, and our property taxes fairly reflect that. In regards to the local sales tax, I have no complaints.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?My father, currently retired, was employed by the cook county sheriffs police during my entire childhood, teenage, and young adult years. I have a special appreciation for the services that local law enforcement provides, and for the sacrifices that they make on behalf of our community on a daily basis. Therefore, I feel that the police and fire departments are doing a wonderful job, and I am looking forward to see what the future will bring.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I am in agreement with the proposed annual budget.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?The southern part of Mt Prospect concerns me. We need to come up with a plan to help lower crime rates, and maintain the character of Mount Prospect.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I would like to see more community engagement, more families attending the various events in town, eating at the local restuarants, shopping in our growing downtown district, and at Randhurst Village. On the other hand, we need to make sure that the members of our community understand how the decision process works within the village government. That way, there is a clear understanding of why and how decisions are made.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Mother Teresa. One of my favorite quotes is, "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless".What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?I was raised in a strict Greek home. My siblings and I were taught to respect others, never judge others, and help those in need.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Nothing. I thank God for all that I have.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Communicatons. It helped me professionally,and personally with coworkers, children, family, neighbors, and in my own business.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?I would tell them that they are not owed anything in life, they only get what they work for.
