I am soon to be married to my fiance, Nicole, in June of this year.Occupation: Work at Pilot Pete's RestaurantEducation: Bachelor of Communications from Northern Illinois UniversityCivic involvement: None, at this time.Elected offices held: NoneQuestions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I have grown up and lived in Roselle for my entire life and I really have the desire to make an impact on the community that I live in. I also, would really like to begin a movement for change in the community by bringing a fresh perspective to the way village government works.What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I would say that the taxes in Roselle are a bit high and question what the money is being used for, but in comparison to some of the surrounding towns and villages, I would say that the taxes are reasonable.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I feel that the Roselle police and fire coverage is very efficient and seem to prepared for the upcoming years.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I would like to see more money going toward events that bring the community closer and encourage people to come out to the events more. I feel that when there a re events in the community, that not enough of the residents are involved.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Whether it's reconstructing a playground, visiting an elderly home, or clearing trash from a nearby creek, a community service project is an excellent way to bring about change on a small, intimate level. I feel that we, as a community, could do more with helping the next generation learn more about helping the elderly and doing more with outreach programs with the them.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?The Environment is a pretty big issue that I would like there to be more focus on. some ideas I would like to see put in place for doing so would be, cleaning up trash from a local outdoor space, organizing a hike or nature walk with friends, and bring bags to collect trash along the trails, growing vegetables, fruits, and herbs in an organic garden, and encourage others to do the same (i.e. creating a children's nature garden. Create a path, label plants and trees, and schedule guided tours, purchasing recycled products as opposed to generic ones. These are just a few simple ideas that could help us step in the right direction.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.President ObamaWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Work hard and love what you do and make time for the one's you love.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have stayed home and gone to community college right out of high school instead of going away.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History. History was and still is my favorite subject. We can learn a lot form the people that have done and gone through it first.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Doing what makes you happy is not selfish, it's necessary.
