My wife has been a resident of Lisle almost all her life and we have been raising our two children here for the past 11 years in Oak Hill Estates. We are blessed to have such wonderful friends, neighbors, and family all around Lisle. However, in recent years, I feel the Village of Lisle has not been moving in the right direction. Property taxes continue to rise, businesses have left with nothing to replace them and the voices of concerned Lisle residents have fallen on deaf ears. For these reasons, I have decided to make a change and run for Village of Lisle Trustee. I believe my work experience, dedication and commitment to the people of Lisle will make me the best candidate. My goal is to freeze property taxes, control spending, and bring businesses back to Lisle. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe that property taxes in Lisle are too high and are making it difficult for lifelong Lisle residents on a fixed income and families struggling with a limited budget. We need to freeze the property taxes and control spending. We can no longer rely on property taxes as the main source of revenue. Lisle needs to revitalize the businesses and increase the sales tax revenue.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? The Village of Lisle is fortunate to have excellent men and women protecting and servicing the needs of our residents. We need to make sure we honor our promise to these men and women by securing the underfunded pension plan.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We need to review and control the Capital Expenditures of the budget and make sure the money is being used in a "responsible" manner. Wasteful spending, misplaced priorities, and bad management continue to place a burden on Lisle's future. Open communication between the village board, local commissions, and residents will help in deciding what capital expenditures are the best for Lisle. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I believe Lisle can assist the senior community by creating a volunteer program supported by the Village of Lisle to help with transportation. Transportation will be provided for doctor appointments, Grocery Store, and/or Lisle businesses. This will allow us to give back to lifelong Lisle residents and also help them with their basic needs. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? We need to focus on growing the business community in Lisle. We are putting too great of an emphasis on residential development. Unfortunately building apartment building, townhomes, or condos is not going solve the problems facing Lisle. We need to make business a priority and fill the vacant stores and lots through the Ogden corridors and Maple/53.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Family is the most important part of life and will always be there for you.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Candidate did not respond. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Candidate did not respond. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Learn from your mistakes. Own it, learn from it, and don't repeat it.
