A sign of hope, but still concern

Last night I listened to Donald Trump's speech and thought finally he is sounding like what a POTUS should sound like. He was under control and to me showed great leadership potential. I know it's a lot of talk but at least he seemed rational. However, earlier that day he said some outrageous comments about our military. He said "we don't fight to win" and "we never win a war anymore." He based this on the continued conflict in the Middle East which actually has been going on for millennia and certainly intensified after WW II with the creation of the state of Israel. So by that logic we lost WW II because of continued strife in the Middle East and that a war won should have ended it.

Of course winning a war is never a guarantee that peace will prevail. And. Mr. President, ask Kuwaitis who won the desert war. Ask your military and did you ever think what a blow to morale this statement was?

So here we have a good speech bordering on being a great speech if he can deliver his promises but then then again you have the other side we have seen so often marked by unsupported facts, stereotyping of ethnicities, belligerence and avoiding issues by placing blame on others, which now included claims of sabotage by President Obama. So I watch daily to see if both opposing sides of this man manifest or if he, hopefully, will be able to rein his bluster in for the good of us all.

We can only hope and pray. And continue to voice our disapproval as we see fit and as is our right. And, Mr. President, stop blaming others. The protests aren't contrived. They are real, stemming from real people with real concerns. Open your eyes and listen to them.
