Village Theatre to present 'The Laramie Project'

"The Laramie Project," Village Theatre Guild's third selection of the season, captures the soul of Laramie, Wyoming, as the townspeople struggle to make sense of the murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man.

In the play written by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Project, 13 actors portray more than 60 characters searching to find a semblance of meaning for what happened.

The drama is written in a format of moments rather than scenes, with minimal set decoration and costumes to allow the focus to be on the characters and their found voices.

"The Laramie Project" will run weekends, March 24 through April 15, at Village Theatre, 2S720 Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. Matinees are at 3 p.m. Sundays, April 2 and 9, and Saturday, April 15.

Tickets are $18 if paid by cash or $20 for credit card reservations. For information or tickets, call (630) 469-8230 or visit villagetheatreguild.org.
