Pedestrian struck by car severely injured in subsequent hit-and-run
Lisle police are searching for one of two vehicles they think struck a 62-year-old man and rendered him unresponsive Wednesday evening.
Eastbound traffic on Maple Avenue was closed for about three hours while Lisle police investigated the crash in the 1000 block, officials said in a news release Wednesday. The man was found seriously injured about 6 p.m. and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, authorities said. An update on his condition was not immediately available and police declined to comment on further details.
After the man was hit by the first vehicle, he was struck again by a separate SUV, according to the news release. The driver of what has been described to police as a blue Chevrolet Equinox left the area without contacting police, authorities say.
It is unclear whether the driver of the first vehicle was cited.
Police are asking anyone with information about the blue Chevrolet or the crash to contact the department at 630-271-4200.
