Shelter for homeless veterans celebrates 10 years, says farewell to co-founder

The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans will host its 10-year anniversary celebration Sunday, April 30, at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton.

Beginning at 4 p.m., the event will feature a farewell tribute to Bob "Doc" Adams, the Midwest Shelter's co-founder and longtime board president, who retired from the MSHV board at the end of 2016.

"We invite everyone to join us in celebration of the self-sufficiency achieved by the homeless and at-risk veterans we have served over the last 10 years," said Tom Fogerty, current MSHV board president and U.S. Navy veteran. "We also celebrate the vision of our co-founder Bob Adams and the ongoing community support that has enabled the Midwest Shelter to help so many veterans and their families."

Tickets to the anniversary celebration, which includes dinner and entertainment, cost $125 a person or $1,250 for a 10-person table. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. To purchase tickets or to sponsor the event, visit the MSHV website www.helpaveteran.org.
