Be heard on codes for keeping trailers
Schaumburg residents; On Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m., the Planning, Building, and Development Committee will seek to approve a new municipal code to decide what type of trailer you can park in your driveway. The changes will focus primarily on the size of hauling/enclosed trailers.
There has been a series of hearings over the last few months to review the issue. The village has defined a list of what it finds aesthetically pleasing and what is not. If you own an enclosed trailer, or think someday you might sell your home to someone who owns a trailer, you should attend the next meeting and be heard.
These new regulations are the result not so much from massive outcry of citizens but the disagreements between a limited number of neighbors and the decision of the Planning Board that Schaumburg ordinances should be comparable to those in similar communities.
We each define recreation in our own way. Is there a need for our community to create new ordinances just to be like everyone else? Should we embrace diversity, and understand that our neighbors define fun differently than we do and accept that they need an enclosed trailer for their hobby? Come out and have your voice be heard.
