Wheaton church plans couples workshop

Married couples and unmarried couples in a committed relationship are invited to take part in a workshop with therapist Jack Berkemeyer from the DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center.

For all ages, the workshop is intended to be a time of learning and renewal for married and unmarried committed couples. The workshop is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at St. Matthew United Church of Christ, 1420 S. Gables Blvd., Wheaton.

Berkemeyer will introduce couples to strategies to deal with stressful life changes and how to remove autopilot from their relationship.

Following the presentation, there will be time for couples to have a one-on-one discussion and begin implementing the strategies in their own relationship. The couples can expect to learn new tools for handling conflict, begin to create an atmosphere of affirmation for dealing with family stresses, and recognize that all relationships change over time.

The workshop is free. Deadline for registration is Sunday, Feb. 19. To register, call (630) 665-1236 or email office@stmatthewucc.org with names, address, phone number, email and the number of years in relationship with one another.
