Vehicle stickers commemorate Mount Prospect's centennial anniversary

Mount Prospect residents should look for a renewal notice in the mail during the first week of February 2017 for Mount Prospect vehicle stickers.

Residents will have until April 30, 2017, to display the sticker. Residents who had a 2016-2017 vehicle sticker and did not receive a renewal application in the mail are still required to purchase and display a sticker by the April 30 deadline.

Vehicle stickers purchased after April 30 are subject to a late penalty fee. The penalty does not apply to new residents/businesses or to those who have purchased vehicles after May 1. In these situations, there is a 30-day grace period in which to purchase a sticker.

Stickers may be purchased online on the village's website, www.mountprospect.org, or in person at the Finance Department in the village hall, 50 S. Emerson St.

The 2017-2018 vehicle stickers commemorate Mount Prospect's 100th anniversary. Centennial Commission Co-Chair Jean Murphy said, "We have been commemorating anniversaries and honoring various entities within our Mount Prospect community on our vehicle stickers since 2013, when the Mount Prospect Fire Department celebrated its 100th anniversary.

"That was followed by a sticker honoring High School District 214's Centennial in 2014, one honoring our five different park districts in 2015 and yet another sticker honoring the 120th anniversary of the one-room Central School this past year.

"On the 2017-18 stickers, we celebrate the Centennial of the Village of Mount Prospect with the now-iconic purple anniversary logo, and in 2018-19 have plans to honor the 75th anniversary of the referendum, which established a tax-supported public library in Mount Prospect," Murphy said.

"We have found that this is a great way to acknowledge and honor the village's many community partners and their milestones."
