Time for media to respond to false attacks

I was glad to read in the Jan. 15 issue of the Daily Herald of your editorial board taking a stand against false attacks by Trump and his supporters on the media in America.

For too long, the media has sat back and taken unfair and malicious criticism from those who simply don't like the facts of a situation because the facts don't fit with their ideology. The cry from the right that the news is "liberal" has now turned to disparaging it with statements that, what the news prints or reports is false.

It is long past due for the media to call out those who falsify events and now have lied about news coverage of issues. Silencing the press will lead to tyranny. We can all join in support of those media sources which are principled and speak out.

Maybe the Daily Herald can tell us more about the success of the Affordable Healthcare ACT, Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, before the Republican wrecking ball reaches these government programs.
