Mundelein tops in Conant's Invitational
Mundelein's boys swimming and diving team took top honors in the eight-team flighted invitational hosted by Conant on Saturday.
The Mustangs, with solid balance at all three levels of competition, finished with 343.5 points to top Maine South (316.5) and Deerfield (297).
St. Viator had a pair of standout efforts from junior Michael Balcerak, who won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.70 and the 200 free in 1:41.52. The Lions' Michael Ruben also had a runner-up effort in the 200 IM (2:05.39) and took third in the 100 fly (56.45).
The host Cougars got another dominant diving performance from Cole Aykroid, a winner with an 11-dive total of 486.95. And teammate Justin Lim was tops in the 100 fly (55.15).
Rolling Meadows was exceptionally strong in the 200 free, where Josh Dellorto placed second in the 'A' heat, Filip Pancerz won the 'B' heat and Jake Pors won the 'C' heat.
Meadows also won both freestyle relays. Dellorto provided a 21.92 leadoff split to the winning 200 free relay (1:31.32), where he joined Pors, Pancerz and Nate Pardini. The same foursome won the 400 relay in 3:20.46.
