Palatine teen charged with LSD possession

A Palatine teen faces felony drug charges after police found more than $3,000 worth of drugs in his bedroom, authorities said.

Noah Smith, 18, was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, punishable by up to 30 years in prison, and was ordered held on $50,000 bail.

Members of the Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force executed what authorities described as a "knock and announce" search warrant at Smith's home on the 0-100 block of South Glenwood Street on Wednesday night.

In Smith's basement bedroom, police recovered 67 paper squares containing LSD, prosecutors said. The street value of those drugs totaled $1,340, prosecutors said.

Police also recovered marijuana, including marijuana edibles and butane hash oil, a marijuana derivative, totaling $2,160, prosecutors said.

Smith next appears in court on Feb. 16.
