Village president trying to stack the board
For the fourth time, Paul Mulcahy, Lake in the Hills village president, is planning to plug in one of his buddies to an open trustee seat on the village board.
I, myself, called Mulcahy two months ago to request that he finally open up the process and invite LITH citizens to apply for the seat. He stated that he did not have time. He said, "Some guy is bringing me five resumes of women who want to be trustees."
Apparently, I am not alone in my concern that the board is packed with Mulcahy cronies. Mulcahy rejected those women and will put in the seventh man to complete the board, a personal friend of his. This will happen Thursday at the evening meeting unless Mulcahy decides to start listening to the public.
Mulcahy's power grab and predictable behavior of stacking his custom-made board is exactly how Barbara Key controlled her LITH board 30 years ago.
LITH desperately needs a village board of independent thinkers who are creative and ready to make improvements. Our current board has a couple of "lifers." In addition, one village board member was voted out by the public and Mulcahy brought him right back and plugged him into an open village board seat.
Mulcahy is not listening.
