Hear the story of Corrie ten Boom in 'Generations of Good' Feb. 3
First Baptist Church of Geneva will present "Generations of Good" from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the church's west campus, 3435 Keslinger Road.
It will be an evening to connect women of all ages, high school and beyond, to be inspired and make an impact - all in one night!
Hear the story of Corrie ten Boom, portrayed by Gayle Haas, who changed her corner of the world as she served Jews, the outcast and overlooked of her day. The Dutch woman and her family helped Jews escaping Nazi Germany during World War II. After about four years of helping the refugees and members of the Resistance, the family were arrested and sent to concentration camps. She told the story of her family during World War II in the 1971 book "The Hiding Place," which was later made into a movie.
Then join in helping the children of Uganda, an overlooked corner of the world today, through the Sole Hope Project.
There will be a Sole Hope Shoe Cutting Party during the evening event using old jeans, a chance to party with a purpose.
Cost is $5 (due with registration) plus a pair of any color jeans. Bring old jeans from your closet or purchase an inexpensive pair from a resale shop.
Attendees also will be given an opportunity to make an additional $10 donation during the evening event. This donation will help cover the costs of shipping the shoes from Sole Hope Headquarters in the United States to Africa, paying a fair wage to the shoemaker, shoemaking supplies needed in Uganda, and other costs associated with getting the shoes on the feet of a child in need.
