Tone is important to trust in media
Applause for your series of "The Press and the Public Trust." Each was marked with sincerity and a caring attitude for the communities you serve. I think what might regain the public's trust in newspaper reporting are headlines throughout the newspaper that are more neutral than exotic or alarming in tone. When that journalistic discipline is missing, it's difficult for the reader to adopt an unbiased attitude about the news, no matter how accurate the article is. And I also have a gripe with syndicated wire news which, more frequently nowadays, refrains from labeling a news analysis for what it is.
