Twentieth Century Club Celebrates Christmas 2016

The Twentieth Century Club met for its annual Christmas Luncheon at the Park Ridge Country Club on December 6th, 2016. The country club was, as always, decorated beautifully for Christmas, and nearly 180 members enjoyed cocktails and socializing in the festive atmosphere.

Before the luncheon began, members were warmly welcomed by president Helen Ideno, and a lovely and heartfelt invocation was said by Sue Carlson.

The luncheon was delicious, chicken in puff pastry and peppermint ice cream pie being especial standouts! The entertainment, introduced by music chairwoman Stephanie Ammon, was a real surprise! We were entertained and edified by Na Kapuna (it means elder or senior) Ukulele Club, a group that performed several Hawaiian song and dance numbers for us. Yes, they sang "Mele Kalikimaka" (Hawaiian Merry Christmas) but we also enjoyed learning a bit more about Hawaiian musical tradition from this group.

Many thanks to Lynn Rogers and Sue Carlson for organizing an outstanding Christmas luncheon.
