Death of person on fire near campus investigated as accident

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say the death of a person whose body was found on fire near the Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis campus is believed to have been accidental.

Maj. Richard Riddle tells The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/2glwAxo) a propane tank on a stove exploded Thursday night, setting fire to the man and a tent.

Police say the man was believed to have been homeless. His name has not been released.

Officer Aaron Hamer says detectives found the body after being called to a wooded area on the west side of the IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis. Hamer says the area was used a possible homeless camp.
