New District 214 contract for clerical, technical, security staff

Northwest Suburban High School District 214 has approved a new four-year contract with a union representing 435 employees in clerical, technical, security and instructional assistant positions.

The contract, approved by union membership Wednesday and the school board Thursday, awards pay raises of 2 percent in each year of the agreement. Insurance premium contributions in the high deductible and health maintenance organization plans will increase 1 percent each year.

"There was a lot of collaboration, cooperation, and it's probably the easiest negotiation I've ever done," said Educational Support Personnel Association President Joyce Sevarino, a library technology assistant at Rolling Meadows High School.

The contract is in effect from July 2017 through June 2021.
