Elk Grove man accused of molesting boy at Bartlett park

A registered child sex offender from Elk Grove Village was ordered held on $2 million bail yesterday on charges he sexually abused a 9-year-old boy while playing hide-and-seek in a Bartlett park. Ryan French, 35, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Full story.

Carpentersville man gets 12 years for 9th DUI

A Carpentersville man pleaded guilty to his ninth DUI Thursday and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Alfredo Sanchez, 32, received credit for the 55 days he has spent in custody since his arrest on Sept. 23 near Higgins Road and Mall Drive in Schaumburg. Full story.

Elgin man accused of burglary after grandmother alerts police

An Elgin man has been charged with residential burglary after he broke into an Elgin home last week and stole guns, electronics and jewelry, authorities said yesterday. Prosecutors said they were led to Chefonne L. Montgomery, 22, after his grandmother saw a picture of him with the guns and alerted police. Full story.

Dick Tracy statue moves to permanent location in Naperville

Dick Locher joked yesterday that Naperville's police chief can retire now that Dick Tracy is back on the job. Locher, a longtime Naperville resident who spent roughly three decades drawing the Dick Tracy comic strip, looked on as construction workers moved a 9-foot-tall sculpture of his famous cop to its new, permanent location in front of the Naperville Township building near the city's new Water Street District. New I-90 ramps opening at Meacham, Roselle roads today

Dust- and delay-weary drivers on the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90) can celebrate a couple of victories this week as the Illinois tollway continues wrapping up a massive rebuilding project. COD board approves contract extension

College of DuPage trustees have approved a two-year contract extension with the Glen Ellyn school's full-time faculty members. The extension, which begins next August and ends the day before the start of the 2019 fall term, keeps the faculty's existing pay schedule. Full story.
