Rolling Meadows man charged with sexually abusing teen

A 20-year-old Rolling Meadows man who prosecutors say engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl was ordered held on $500,000 bail Thursday,

Jonathan Kobilarick was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. Probation is also an option.

Prosecutors say Kobilarick met the teen July 4 at an Independence Day festival. They texted and agreed to meet Aug. 2, at Reimer Reservoir Park in Palatine, where they engaged in sexual activity, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Maureen McGee.

They also engaged in sexual activity at other parks and at the defendant's home, according to prosecutors.

On Sept. 24, Kobilarick stopped communicating with the girl, and she began acting oddly, according to her parents, McGee said. Ultimately, the teen told them what had happened between her and Kobilarick, McGee said.

Kobilarick, who has no criminal background, next appears in court on Dec. 8.
