Schaumburg Places Fourth in Digital Cities Survey

The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce it has placed fourth in the 2016 Digital Cities Survey, which recognizes communities for improving citizen services, enhancing transparency and encouraging citizen engagement.

Top-ranked digital city and villages in this year's survey are using technology such as open data portals, enhanced connectivity and mobile platforms to make it easier for people to do business with government.

"The village has always maintained a commitment to using and developing new tools that will provide a better user experience for our customers," said Director of Information Technology Peter Schaak. "The village will continue to seek ways in which we can improve our interactions with residents, businesses and visitors."

Open to all U.S. cities, the survey ranked the village fourth in cities with a population of 74,999 or less. The village's technology achievements this year include:

• Redesigning a website that has improved navigation and transparency

• Introducing a police department dashboard application that easily tracks statistics, case updates and compiles critical information

• Implementing a new rental property information application that pulls data from a variety of departments for proactive management of the condition and compliance of rental properties within the village

"I am proud of the progress our Information Technology Department has achieved to make our day-to-day operations easier and more efficient for the people we serve," said Village President Al Larson. "The advent of technology has changed the way we do business and interact with people; I'm pleased the village is being recognized for its accomplishments."

The top 10 ranked cities will be honored at a special awards ceremony during the National League of Cities' annual conference held Thursday, Nov. 17 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
