Burnidge, Paul Wolff repaving project to start Oct. 17

Due to a planned construction project, users of Burnidge Forest Preserve and the adjoining Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin may experience brief delays accessing or exiting the properties this month.

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County has contracted to have aged and worn sections of roadway and parking lots resurfaced.

The project begins Monday, Oct. 17, and is expected to last approximately three weeks, depending on weather.

The work includes grinding in place and paving at both entrances, parking lots and dump station, as well as spot patches on the connecting interior roadway.

Work on the Burnidge Forest Preserve side will include adjustments to the road location, and realigning the intersection with the parking lot for improved safety and functionality. No construction work is planned inside the campground, however, campers entering/exiting from the Coombs Road side will need to use the service road.

The Forest Preserve District asks preserve and campground users to be mindful of the repaving project and to be aware of the possibility of construction workers and/or equipment in the area.
