Fundraiser for Tierney Darden
Kendra Scott Jewelry in Chicago will host a fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 8, for paralyzed Vernon Hills resident Tierney Darden. It'll run from 5 to 7 p.m. at the store at 900 N. Michigan Ave. Darden has customized a piece of jewelry named "The Tierney" that will be for sale at the fundraiser. The company will donate 20 percent of proceeds from in-store and phone orders to Darden's rehabilitation fund. Darden, 24, became paralyzed in August 2015 when a bus shelter collapsed on her during a storm outside O'Hare International Airport. A Kendra Scott event coordinator decided to organize the fundraiser after reading about Darden's accident. Darden sued the Chicago Department of Aviation and the city over the accident.
