This is justice?

Can someone please explain how our criminal justice system works? Wednesday, Sept. 28, there was the story of a man convicted, via a guilty plea, of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. His sentence is he must register as a sex offender for 10 years and he is on probation for 24 months. A second man received three years in prison for backing out of a parking spot without turning on his headlights, parking nearby, and then moving to the back seat of his car to smoke marijuana.
