Public Invited to Schaumburg's Public Safety Open House on Oct. 1

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend its Annual Public Safety Open House that will feature demonstrations and exhibits from the Schaumburg Fire and Police Departments.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1

at Fire Station 51, 950 W. Schaumburg Rd. and the Police Station, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. The fire and police department's Honor Guard will post the colors at 11 a.m. at the memorial during the event.

The fire department will offer tours of the fire station, perform extrication demonstrations, show off fire gear and equipment, allow children to spray a hose and climb on the trucks, as well as offer many other fun, educational experiences.

The police department will have numerous displays of equipment and gear used by officers. Guided tours will be available inside the police department with educational and interactive opportunities including DUI vision goggles and evidence collection. Police squad cars and other emergency equipment will be on display. The Community Room will offer additional Crime Prevention information and materials about the many programs and services provided by the police department.
